Zane and Amara get the spotlight in Borderlands 3 worldwide gameplay reveal

Borderlands 3 Gameplay Reveal - Group Combat

Oof. It’s barely a week into May and already we’re waist-deep in explosive news. Last night, Gearbox Software and 2K hosted a livestream for Borderlands 3, showcasing more gameplay footage and even taking two of the new Vault Hunters for a spin. On top of that, the team also unveiled a new trailer for the game. Let’s check that out first.

Argh, my inner Vault Hunter is itching to get out there again.

Speaking of which, let’s go over what we learned about Zane and Amara. The development team showcased some of the duo’s abilities last night, ploughing through enemies on both the original Borderlands planet of Pandora and the brand-new Promethea.

What can we expect from our new Assassin and Siren?

Zane the Assassin is a professional covert operative who specialises in battlefield gadgetry. He can call up drones to provide covering fire and provide other handy bonuses, so he kind of resembles Wilhelm from The Pre-Sequel  in terms of equipment and, coincidentally looks.

Meanwhile, Amara is a rugged female brawler whose proficiency in pummeling people are only enhanced by her powers. Combat-wise, she’s a little different from the Sirens we’ve seen in previous games, who tend to focus on support. Instead, Amara tosses caution to the wind, conjuring ethereal fists to punch the living daylights out of her enemies.

Anyway, if neither of these playstyles pique your fancy, there’s still Moze the Gunner and FL4K the Beastmaster. Gearbox hasn’t demo’ed those two characters yet, and there’s still quite a way to go till September 13th. Point being: we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any further reveals, especially at E3.

Check out the full presentation below and the official Borderlands site to find out more.

Borderlands 3 is coming to PC (Epic Store timed exclusive ), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
