Wargaming Picks Up Gas Powered Games

Gas Powered Games may have had to cancel their Wildman Kickstarter, but they’ve received far better funding since then, in the form of acquisition from Wargaming.
The Russian behemoth will take full ownership of Gas Powered Games, the maker of critically acclaimed franchises like Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander, and Demigod.
This acquisition will bolster Wargaming’s foray into multiplatform expansion. Wargaming recently acquired Day 1 Studios and MMO middleware provider BigWorld.
“Gas Powered Games’ heritage and development pedigree shows us just how valuable an addition Chris and his company will make to the Wargaming family,” said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming.
Wargaming’s rapid acquisitions make me wonder what they have up their sleeve. While bringing BigWorld under their wing makes sense – it does create online software – Gas Powered Games’ portfolio is a little less related to the massively multiplayer online games.
