The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S gaming notebook will retail for $3,198

There’s a new Zephyrus coming to town and it’s slimmer than ever. The Zephyrus S (GX531) gaming notebook by ASUS ROG will be available soon, combining the new Intel Core i7-8750H, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-P, and a 144Hz IPS display into an ultra-thin 14.95 mm package.
There are, of course, a whole other slew improvements over the original model. They’ve fitted that 15.6-inch display with narrow bezels, such that the chassis itself now measures 14.2 inches. The Full HD IPS panel, provided by AUO, now boasts a 144 Hz refresh rate and a faster 3 ms response time to give other gaming notebooks a run for their money. It also has 100% sRGB coverage as well as multiple display profiles, all available in their refreshed utility app.
Looking down, the hinge has has been integrated with a pair of front-facing speakers for better sound delivery. The backlit chiclet keyboard is now more responsive with N-key rollover, and the layout itself is beneficial to the system’s cooling.
And that cooling is a point of pride for ASUS ROG, whether it’s the Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) — which opens a special vent underneath the laptop whenever the lid is opened, drawing in more air — or the self-cleaning fans and anti-dust tunnels hidden inside. That AAS intake is now 5 mm tall on the Zephyrus S, while the twin fans had their blades increased from 71 to 83 each.
The aforementioned desktop utility app, previously known as Game Center, is now Armoury Crate. It retains all of the system monitoring and tweaking functionality of its predecessor, and other than a better overall look comes with a mobile dashboard app for Android and iOS — they’ll be adding more functionality to it in future updates.
The Zephyrus S (GX531) retails for S$3,198 starting 30 November 2018 at the ASUS Brand Shop and all authorized retailers.

Limited Edition “ROG X Crumpler Endeavour” backpack
You may know ASUS ROG for its hardshell luggage, but what about a unique all-weather backpack specially designed by Crumpler?
Limited to only 300 pieces worldwide, the ROG x Crumpler Endeavour is a black 18-liter backpack made of weatherproof polyester canvas, with ROG’s Cybertext featured as an all-over textured print on the front. We’re told that those textured prints are a first for the bag company, and that they had to deconstruct their known designs in order to get a perfect fit for the Zephyrus S.
The thing is, you won’t even have to pay for it. The limited edition backpack will be provided with every purchase of an ROG desktop or laptop between 22 November to 31 December, which as luck would have it is just when SITEX 2018 begins — drop by HardwareZone Singapore’s portal to keep up-to-date on that.
