Surface in Singapore: Microsoft expands device line-up and opens dedicated store

Microsoft are opening Southeast Asia’s “first dedicated Surface premium experience” store here in Singapore, heralding the start of the new Surface Concierge service. They’re also expanding the line-up to include the Surface Laptop, Surface Studio, and the GeForce GTX-equipped Surface Book 2.

The Surface Store opens on 10 March and is situated at the Harvey Norman Milennia Walk Flagship Superstore. It’s a sleek showroom for everything the Surface family has to offer, be it devices or accessories. Additionally, existing customers may visit the store to receive dedicated support for their Surface, “regardless of where or when it was purchased.”

Joining the currently available Surface Pro is the Surface Laptop, packing 7th-generation Intel Core processors, integrated graphics, a single SSD, and 14.5 hours of battery life, into 14.5mm thin clamshell. Depending on the configuration, it can weigh as low as 1.25 kilograms, making the Laptop a desirable option for office workers on the go. Tying into that is its Windows 10 S operating system, which is basically a stripped-down, security-enhanced version locked into Microsoft’s app ecosystem.

If you work with digital canvas rather than documents and spreadsheets, the Surface Studio will no doubt be the better pick. With a roomy 28-inches to work on, users can orient the Studio upright, flat, or at an angle thanks to the Zero Gravity Hinge. It’s pretty beefy too, with a Core i7, 128GB SSD, 2TB Hybrid HDD, 32GB RAM, and a GeForce GTX 980M, all to keep up with demanding projects.

Lastly, those interested in power and versatility have the Surface Book 2 to consider. Available in 13.5-inch and 15-inch sizes, these devices are “up to five times more powerful than the original” and can be taken anywhere hanks to its standout hinge and detachable screen. With 8th-generation Intel processors and Nvidia’s GTX 10 series, the Book 2 also passes for a gaming computer.

The Surface Studio and Surface Book 2 release on 15 March but are now available for pre-order, either through the Microsoft Store or authorized retailers including Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, LOL by Epicentre, Harvey Norman, and Newstead. Authorized resellers for commercial customers include AsiaPac Distribution, JK Technology, and UIC Asian Computer Services.
