SEGA Announces Yakuza 5, Promises To Be Biggest One Yet

According to this week’s Famitsu magazine, SEGA has another Yakuza game up their sleeves, and “Five” here has more meaning than just a sequel number.

Yakuza 5 will not just be SEGA’s most ambitious open-world, street-brawling yet, it’ll also be the host of five protagonists, with two new characters, and feature five Japanese cities, namely Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo. The game is reportedly 70% complete and is built on a new engine, hopefully making the game look less like one running on PlayStation 2.

The Yakuza series has been SEGA’s most popular PlayStation 3 franchise in Japan, with Yakuza 5 making its mark as the fourth consecutive game released on a yearly basis. The game is set for a December release in Japan.
