PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch continue their sales lead for July

The PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles maintained their sales lead for the month of July in Singapore, according to statistics provided by Lazada Singapore for their e-commerce site. Although the latter and the Xbox One, experienced a slight dip as compared to June.

The top-selling games (see below) in Lazada also points to an interesting pattern that we have seen since we started compiling monthly sales reports like this: gamers just love to buy their Nintendo Switch games from Lazada. A quick price comparison check between Lazada and the gamer-popular Qisahn revealed that software tend to be cheaper in Lazada. For example, a copy of Splatoon 2 can be found for S$79. Qisahn, known for their attractive pricing for video games among gamers, is selling the same game for S$83.90.

It’s the same for other platform titles too. The lowest price for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age for the PlayStation 4, is S$60. Shipping is free. But it looks like there are more Nintendo Switch gamers shopping in Lazada. The tricky part about shopping in Lazada though, is having to trawl the site for the best deal for the same game title. This is because Lazada works with multiple merchants and they more often than not price their games differently.

Lazada Singapore’s Top 5 Selling Games for July 2017:

  1. (NS) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  2. (NS) Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  3. (NS) Splatoon 2
  4. (PS4) FIFA 18 (Pre-order)
  5. (NS) ARMS

Important Notes: These information were provided by Lazada Singapore and there are a few things to note:

  • Lazada Singapore do not release actual sales numbers. So we have to make do with a “%” of the sales performance of each major consoles, instead of actual sell-through numbers.
  • Although the information is only coming from one local (albeit a major one) sales source, the data does follow the consoles’ sales trend in the market as observed by us.
