Nintendo Teases Pokémon X and Pokémon Y Versions For 3DS

Nintendo has revealed a new game duo to the Pokémon franchise during a 10-minute Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct video feed.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y versions were announced tonight. The games will kick off a new generation of Pokémon on the Nintendo 3DS. Little was revealed aside from the trailer showing a complete stereoscopic 3D play environment with 3D structures, all-new starter Pokémon, Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie; plus whatever the Legendary Pokémon this time actually is. Pokémon from previous generations were also in the trailer, showcasing the all new Battle environment.

These are the first games to pull away from the colour naming convention, using letters instead. X and Y, of course, are likely derived from the chromosome types.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will be released worldwide sometime in October for the Nintendo 3DS.
