New Live-Action Street Fighter Series In The Works!
Many things were announced at San Diego Comic Con 2012 last weekend. Many exciting things. Among them was an announcement that yet another live-action Street Fighter series was in the works.
And unlike the previous two dismal failures, ‘Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist’, doesn’t look like it is going to suck.
That’s because its director will be Joey Ansah, the man behind the fan-made ‘Street Fighter: Legacy’ short, which surpassed anything Hollywood and its multimillion-dollar studios have managed to produce for live-action Street Fighter so far.
The series is supposed to follow Ken and Ryu’s formative years as they study Ansatsuken martial arts under their master, Gouken.
“Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist will be what fans have been waiting for. Legacy was a taster; a glimpse of what a live-action Street Fighter should be,” said Ansah. “This takes the story right back to the start – the origins and motivations of Ryu, Ken, Gouken and Akuma. This will become the definitive back-story from which further epic adventures will follow.”
The script for Assassin’s Fist has also been co-written by Ansah and the dude who played Ken in Legacy: Christian Howard.
“…we’ve managed to make this an emotion and character driven story, which will surprise viewers who might just be expecting a super faithful fight fest,” he said.
The series is slated for release in 2013. Yay!
