New G.SKILL Trident Z RGB DDR4 memory kits to go with Intel’s Z390 boards

G.SKILL Trident Z RGB Z390

Hot on the Intel Z390 chipset reveal are a new set of high-speed DDR4 memory kits by G.SKILL. The Trident Z RGB kits come in 16GB 4800MHz (2x8GB) and 32GB 4500MHz (4x8GB) capacities, both of which are designed to provide the fastest XMP (Extreme Memory Profiles) speed available.

The 4800MHz kit is “engineered for maximum overclocking performance” while its 4500MHz sibling targeted having a higher capacity. Both are timed at 19-22-22-42 and were built using Samsung’s DDR B-die ICs to achieve their respective speeds.

G.SKILL tested both on the new Z390-compatible ASUS ROG boards, providing the screenshots below:

Other than being a great RGB match, their tie-in with ASUS extends to a third memory kit: the Trident Z RGB DC series DDR4 64GB (2x32GB). They worked closely with the hardware manufacturer to develop a breakthrough in Double Capacity DIMM technology, creating a custom PCB solution to double DRAM ICs to 32 per module.

There’s a catch, though. To accommodate the added DRAM chips they had to create taller standing modules, and as of writing are only compatible with three ASUS Z390 motherboards: the ROG Z390 Maximus XI Apex, Maximus XI Gene, and the ROG Strix Z390-I Gaming.
