You Can Now Redeem Loyalty Rewards for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

If you’ve played Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on last-gen before, and you now own Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on current-gen, then listen up because we’ve got good news: You’re likely eligible for loyalty rewards and they’re redeemable now!

Before we proceed, there are two requirements to take note of. First is that loyalty rewards can only be redeemed if the games are played within the same console family, for example Xbox 360 to Xbox One. Secondly, you must have logged into Gearbox SHiFT on past-gen previously, and that account must be same one you’re using now.

With that out of the way, here’s what you’re entitled to in either game:

Borderlands 2

  • 75 Golden Keys
  • A healthy chunk of Badass Rank
  • Bonus character customizations

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

  • 75 Golden Keys
  • A healthy chunk of Badass Rank
  • Moonstones, bonus unique weapons, and character customizations

You can claim those items in The Pre-Sequel at the SHiFT Vending Machine in Concordia. Keep in mind that the moonstones and weapons can only be redeemed by one character.

The console family restriction is a bizarre and unfortunate one, considering how there are people who swapped camps at the start of this generation. Look at it this way: Borderlands is all about the hunt for loot, not so much using them (considering how enemies turn into bullet sponges on higher difficulties), so the core experience is largely unaffected.

Already done with those games? Then you can join the rest of us in speculating what Gearbox is planning next. Frankly I’d like to see a new IP while Borderlands’ designers think of how to revolutionize gameplay for the inevitable sequel.
