Origin has a free copy of Dead Space and a bunch of Lunar New Year deals

Visceral Games is no longer with us, and though their final moments may have been plagued by trouble, it behooves us to remember that they made one of the finest survival-horror experiences of the last decade: Dead Space. The game bowled over curious players with its fantastic atmosphere, cool user interface, and frantic limb-dismemberment as Isaac Clarke shot, stomped, and solved his way across the USG Ishimura.

Three months after the studio’s closure, EA has seemingly decided to commemorate the developer by releasing Dead Space for free. For a limited time, at least. The game is now offered as an On The House title for Origin, permanently joining your library with no subscription locks whatsoever.

Dead Space was previously featured as an On The House game back in 2014, so most Origin early adopters should have it already. Newer players, or those who’ve let the series slipped by, are in for a messy Necromorph treat. Either turn up the home theater or slap on a good pair of headphones, because the sound design is one of the game’s greatest strengths.

If you’re looking for something else to play this Lunar New Year weekend, Origin has a bunch of other games on discount. We’re looking at fairly recent releases such as Star Wars Battlefront II, FIFA 18, and Need for Speed Payback going for less than S$30 each, alongside older titles such as The Sims 4, Mass Effect Andromeda, and Battlefield 1.
