Have Disney Worlds at Your Fingertips This Summer

Disney Interactive announced this morning a new open world game titled Disney Infinity, where players can explore and engage in themed activities from popular Disney properties.

Based on the trailer, we can expect to see and play in franchises ranging from the uber popular Toy Story and Pirates of the Caribbean to cult favourites like The Nightmare Before Christmas. As a child, some of my favourite Disney games were their thematic activity centres, and as an adult, Disney Infinity has me close to tears of joy.

The game will work the same way as Skylanders, with new toys being needed to access the different characters and levels in the game. However, character upgrades will managed through the addition of little plastic discs stacked into the bottom of each figurine, and will not be permanent.

Disney Infinity releases this summer across all platforms except the PS Vita.
