Gran Turismo 5 Asia Online Tournament returns in 2012 [Updated]
Get out your energy drinks, because it’s almost time once again to get behind the wheel controller and race to compete with races all around Asia in the Gran Turismo 5 Asia Online Tournament 2012!
Update: Ultimate Champion will not only attend TGS, but will also have a tour of the Polyphony Digital studio and dinner with GT5 designer Kazunori Yamauchi.
Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong has announced the return of the racing tournament this year, with qualifying matches starting from 9th April. Other dates in the race calendar are as follows.
- 22nd April 2012 – End of Qualification Matches
- 4th May 2012 – Announcement of results from Qualification Matches
- May 2012 – Regional Finals
- Mid-May 2012 – Announcement of results from Regional Finals
- 10th June 2012 – Asia Final, held at Sepang Circuit Malaysia at Super GT Sepang Grand Prix.
The Asian Champion will win round-trip tickets to attend this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2012 in September, as well as a snazzy trophy. Sony Computer Entertainment has also added a studio tour of Polyphony Digital and a dinner with GT5 designer Kazunori Yamauchi to sweeten the deal.
There are various other prizes for the Top 3 from regional matches, including a Nissin Calsonic IMPUL GT-R (SUPER GT) ’08 downloadable car for GT5 for gold trophy winning participants.
