Red Dead Redemption 2 pushed to 26 October
Rockstar fans are going to have practice a little extra patience for this year’s highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2. At midnight, the developer revealed that the sprawling Western has been delayed from Spring 2018 to a firm 26 October 2018.
Here’s what they wrote:
“We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.
“We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.”
Red Dead Redemption 2 was initially meant for Fall 2017, although delays weren’t the least bit surprising. After all, Rockstar is known for creating large and immensely detailed worlds.
So far, we know that this is a prequel to 2010’s highly-rated Red Dead Redemption, which told the tale of former outlaw John Marsten. It had everything you’d expect from a Western, fitting the classical traits of crime, pursuit, and retribution to a tee, with excellent gameplay to match.
This time, we’ll be in the boots of Arthur Morgan, another member of the Dutch van der Linde gang.
Rockstar haven’t announced any plans for a PC release. One can only hope they’d do a delayed launch as with Grand Theft Auto V.
