Deus Ex: Mankind Divided [PS4]

Tags: First-Person Shooter, Action-RPG
Developer: Eidos Montreal
Publisher:
Square Enix

Store Description
The year is now 2029, and the golden era of augmentations is over. Mechanically augmented humans have been deemed outcasts and segregated from the rest of society. Crime and acts of terror serve as a thin veil to cover up an overarching conspiracy aimed at controlling the future of mankind…

Should You Play It?
Yes! What Deus Ex: Mankind Divided lacks in terms of main content and length, it makes up for with gameplay diversity and a gripping setting. Adam Jensen returns with a wider arsenal of tools at his disposal, enhancing his stealth, non-lethal, and deadly options without favoring any one approach. The levels themselves are a little less linear, with opportunities to skip confrontations altogether through dialogue. The star, however, is the tense, segregated world the developers built in the wake of the first game’s disastrous events.

Batman: The Telltale Series [PS4]

Tags: Narrative Adventure
Developer: Telltale Games
Publisher:
Telltales Games

Store Description
Enter the fractured psyche of Bruce Wayne and discover the powerful and far-reaching consequences of your choices as the Dark Knight.

Should You Play It?
Maybe. Telltale Games have been stretching themselves thin lately, with the results evident in releases such as Batman. The game offers a decent mix of investigative work, stealthy takedowns, and leather-clad boots to the face, plus some requisite drama from Bruce Wayne’s side of things, yet the pacing, narrative choices, and the odd inconsistency tends to leave one scratching their head. It’s all set early in the Dark Knight’s career, so surface knowledge of the franchise is all you really need to binge on all five episodes.

StarBlood Arena [PS VR]

Tags: Virtual-Reality, Flight Combat, Multi-Player
Developer: WhiteMoon Dreams
Publisher:
Sony Interactive Entertainment

Store Description
Test your mettle in furious arena combat as you move, evade, and attack in any direction against pilots from every corner of the galaxy. Fight for glory, credits, and your life as the StarBlood Network broadcasts every lawless match for the universe to see. Whether it’s single player Carnage deathmatches, Team Carnage deathmatches, or Invaders co-op, you’ll be constantly challenged to step up your game and prove that you’ve got the skills to emerge victorious.

Should You Play It?
Yes, primarily because you have a new reason to put that PSVR to good use. Beyond that, fans have been favorably comparing StarBlood Arena to Descent thanks to the “six-degrees of freedom” flight model, making for exhilaratingly fast and tight space combat. Although the price-to-content ratio wasn’t particularly enticing at launch, going free should bring a sizeable boost to the player community.
