Bayonetta 2 Demo out Now for Wii U

It’s time to whip out that Wii U for some over-the-top, hair-twirling “climax action” with Bayonetta 2. The full game releases on 24-25 October for English audiences but Nintendo gets to tease us with a demo that’s available right now on the eShop.

These days, games* stamped with the Platinum Games logo easily means you’re in for one hell of a ride, and Bayonetta 2 looks to be no different. The titular character is back with her plethora of weapons on both hands and feet, dodging attacks with Witch Time and generally leaving both angels and demons weeping in fear. It’s all about being visually spectacular and feeling amazing, a formula the studio has nailed down to a science.

(*For reference, Platinum’s last two releases were The Wonderful 101 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.)

For all the acclaim the first game received on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, it was Nintendo that secured the series’ future on Wii U. It was a smart move, seeing how Bayonetta 2‘s Japanese release received great reviews. If you’ve never played the first game then you’re in luck too, as an updated Wii U version will be included in all purchases.

Yes, the main character does look overtly sexual, but considering how incredibly campy and ridiculous the whole setting is it’s hard to take it seriously. Besides, when it comes to Platinum, gameplay is king.
