Blacklight: Retribution Goes Local

Whenever someone asks me for recommendations on a free-to-play shooter, Zombie Studios’ Blacklight: Retribution always makes it on the list. They’ve got the shooting mechanics down pat, had mechanized suits long before Titanfall released and, most importantly, made sure free players never felt at a disadvantage.
There was a downside, however, and it proved to be terrible at times: latency. Connecting to the Australian servers work fine but there were just days where it got unplayable. Never mind there’s a cool visor that lets you see through walls (only when you’re stationary) or that I can put a cute little charm on my monstrous gun –if I was literally shooting at ghosts while being a slow-reacting target then I’m done for the night.
Well not anymore! IAHGames is now a publisher for Blacklight: Retribution in Southeast Asia, which also means local servers. All you have to do is register then download and install the client.
There’s currently a patching issue for some people, unfortunately. If you’re running into that then try out this guide listed on the official Facebook page.
We’ll share our thoughts on how the game feels with a local server and community after a week, so keep an eye out for that!
