EA Axing Online Pass For Existing Games

Fans of used EA games will soon have less gripes over older EA titles with the retroactive discontinuation of their Online Pass online access program.
EA had previously announced the abolishment of the Online Pass program that charges owners of a used EA game for features such as online multiplayer access and exclusive content. This supposedly affected new future releases, and now is coming to older EA titles the company hasn’t shut down online access. Games will be updated to not show the prompt to enter an alphanumeric code with others simply having the existing Online Passes go for free.
Minor annoyance aside, this would mean that less profit will come in for games sold as new without a deterrent for players to just hang around waiting for a used copy to show up. The rollout will take over EA Sports games first and tune-up other titles progressively.
