Beyond: Two Souls Is An Emotional Journey

Beyond: Two Souls is not meant to be fun.

That’s what Quantic Dream CEO David Cage told Edge.

His focus, Edge goes on to report, is “creating an emotional journey.”

“I’m not interested in giving [players] fun,” Cage added. “I want to create an emotional journey, a unique experience.”

The trailer for Beyond: Two Souls that aired at E3 was anything but fun. Intriguing, yes; mysterious, yes’ but mostly depressing thanks to the digital Ellen Page who sat at the police desk staring blankly at nothing. We’re not actually surprised the game is not meant to be fun, but hopefully this mindset isn’t going to rub off on its gameplay.

Quantic Dream are the people who did Heavy Rain, though, so it remains to be seen if they will attempt to inject anything lively into the soon-to-be interactive movie that is Beyond: Two Souls.
