Batman Fanboys Send Death Threats To Bad Reviewers
RottenTomatoes.com has had to suspend user comments for the first time on their site. All because irate fanboys were starting to send death threats to the folk who wrote bad reviews of The Dark Knight Rises.
Though the film has a 84 percent ‘fresh’ rating on RottenTomatoes, it has been deemed rotten by several critics, including the likes of Marshall Fine of Hollywood & Fine, Christy Lemire of the Associated Press and Nick Pinkerton of the Village Voice. Fine called The Dark Knight Rises ‘nonsensical’, while Lemire called it a ‘letdown’.
Fine’s review was removed after it received 97 comments on his own site, and 460 comments on RottenTomatoes, reported indiewire.com.
According to the Mail Online, RottenTomatoes editor-in-chief Matt Atchity said on Tuesday that the job of policing comments became more than his staff could handle, so they stopped comments all together. “It just got to be too much hate based on reactions to reviews of movies that people hadn’t even seen,” he said. Atchity is also worried about a similar backlash when The Hobbit hits the cinemas.
…Stay classy, Internets!
