ASUS ROG’s new Strix XG49VQ monitor is a real curveball

ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ

Wow, talk about overkill. A full 49 inches worth.

We’re talking about the new ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ monitor here, by the way. Together with the 43-inch SG438Q and 32-inch XG32VQR, they form ASUS ROG’s triumvirate of new HDR gaming monitors.

These look like large and beautiful screens; however, today we’re all about the big one. Yup, that one on the right will really be a sight to behold, and ASUS ROG are going to be taking orders at next week’s IT Show.

Let’s establish that the XG49VQ is no gentle giant. It sports a 49-inch, super ultra-wide native resolution of 3840 x 1080 (32:9 aspect ratio). But that’s not all. It also has a 144Hz refresh rate, 90% DCI-P3 coverage, is VESA DisplayHDR 400 compliant, and the ability to display up to three sources at any given time!

If anything, this is a piece of art.

All three monitors also feature FreeSync2 HDR for stutter-free gameplay, TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification for flicker-free operation, and in-built ASUS Shadow Boost technology to enhance viewing in dark areas.

I think those specs and features are nothing short of ridiculous — ridiculously awesome, that is.

According to ASUS ROG, the behemoth Strix XG49VQ will be available for pre-order at S$1,639. It’s rather pricey, but the investment seems well worth it.

By the way, the tech fair is happening from March 7-11 at Suntec Singapore. Follow our tech buddies HardwareZone for all the the juicy IT Show details.

Now then, where do I sign?
