The SNES Classic Mini is the best selling console for August 2017

Pre-orders for the Super Nintendo Classic Mini hit a high last month, according to statistics provided by Lazada Singapore.

The SNES Classic Mini was the newest entry in the chart and occupied an impressive 45% of all consoles sales (even if they were pre-orders) made on the e-commerce site, even outselling the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch combined. Compared to July’s sales however, the Switch performed better and inched closer to the PlayStation 4.

It will be interesting to see if the SNES Classic Mini pre-order momentum will continue for this month. We will only know next month. In the meantime, pre-orders for the mini console are still available and priced at S$149 at Lazada.sg at this point of writing.

What about games sales?

Lazada Singapore’s Top 5 Selling Games for August 2017:

  • (PS4) FIFA 18 – pre-order
  • (NS) Splatoon 2
  • (NS) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • (NS) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • (PS4) Horizon Zero Dawn

Nintendo Switch titles are still dominating the charts. It’s surprising to see Horizon Zero Dawn in the August’s chart, considering the game is more than six months old now. It’s still a masterpiece nonetheless, especially if you can run it on 4K with HDR.

Right at the top of last month’s chart is pre-orders for FIFA 18 for PlayStation 4, and the game looks like it will be a hot seller (it was #4 in July’s chart) when it launches this 29 September.
