Time for the Vengeance Cup Singapore Finals

Five brutal qualifiers later and here we are, just a few days shy of the Singapore Vengeance Cup Grand Finals. You wouldn’t want to miss this one: a Saturday chock-full of StarCraft II action, be it spectating the tournament itself or winning some prizes for yourself. And where better to hold it than the usual Alienware Arena haunt in Chinatown?

Grand Finals

The Grand Finals for the Singapore Cup will pit sixteen proven players against each other for a spot to represent the country in the SEA Regionals in Thailand. We already have twelve finalists – more on them at SC2SEA – which mean players still have a chance to be one of those last four seeds this coming Saturday.

The 16-player Open Brackets (Single Elimination, Best of 3) begins in the morning and it will be fast, requiring only two rounds to determine the four players. There’ll be an increased priority for players who performed better during the previous Vengeance Cups but if you’re set on competing then registrations are here.

Groups for the main event will be randomised so nobody will know until the day itself. The tournament will follow GSL’s (GOMTV Global StarCraft II League) 5 Match format, designed to bring out the best two seeds from each of the four groups. This will run for the whole afternoon, leading up to the Quarter-, Semi- and Grand Finals.

There’s a schedule available though it should be taken as a rough estimate, especially where tournaments are involved. Streams will be professionally casted by Maynarde and Zepph, familiar names within the StarCraft II casting community.

Other Activities

That’s not all, of course. Blizzard, Asiasoft and Razer have come together to arrange a few other activities for the crowd.

From 1–5PM there’ll be free 30-minute coaching sessions by FaDe Team Coach and GM-ranked player, Eddie. Registration is open to anyone and he’ll walk you through any of the three different races.

Also making an appearance is the StarJeweled Tournament. Registration begins at 1:30PM and the games will run until 6PM, with the top three winners getting SG$200, $100 and $50 respectively.

Lastly there’ll be three lucky draws in the evening, which include prizes such as mousepads, peripherals and that fancy StarCraft II Zerg Messenger Bag.
