The SEA Major 2013 Is Nearly Upon Us

This is it. South East Asia Major 2013, the closing act of the Road to EVO International tournament this year, will take place this weekend. Some of the best players from the global fighting game community will be gathering in hazy Singapore to dish out virtual hurt; where better to watch the fights than at the arena itself?
A total of ten games will be featured, six of which are official EVO 2013 games* complete with points for seeding. Brackets begin on Friday night.
- *Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012
- *The King of Fighters XIII
- *Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
- *Street Fighter X Tekken 2013
- *Tekken Tag Tournament 2
- *Persona 4 Arena
- BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
- The King of Fighters 2002 Ultimate Match
- Injustice: Gods Among Us
- Soul Calibur V
There’ll also be side events such as a cosplay exhibition and an anime after party, on Friday and Saturday respectively. For registered players, limited tickets will be handed out for an after party event with Razer on Sunday night to wrap it all up.
The SEA Major 2013 will be at Alienware Arena in Lucky Chinatown on 21-23 June. For those unable to attend, two live streams will be running to cover the event. More information on the three-day schedule can be found here. Registrations are still open, with a list of registered players available here.
This marks the second edition of the SEA Major, an event organised by Tough Cookie TV with the help of the Singapore E-Sports League. Local hero DM MCZ ‘Xian’ took the championship last year by sweeping away competition like MCZ Daigo Umehara and fellow Singaporean ‘Gackt’. The question now is: can Xian claim a second consecutive win or will someone else take his place?
We’ll know soon enough.
