Singapore: Intel Extreme Masters Tour To Stop At SITEX 2012

Singapore will play host to the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) competition this November, when the global pro gaming tour debuts in the country at consumer electronics tradeshow SITEX 2012.

From November 22 to November 25, IEM Singapore will showcase the best of eSports through StarCraft II and League of Legends. First through third place winners will be walking away with US$82,000, US$50,000, and US$32,000 respectively, as well as a spot at the IEM World Championship in Hanover, Germany, next year.

This is the first time the Intel Extreme Masters tour is coming to Singapore. The global pro gaming tour has been running since 2006, and has since given out over US$2.8m. The online stream is expected to attract over 4,000,000 unique viewers from around the world.

“It is a strategic goal for ESL and for Intel to bring eSports  at the highest level to new territories every season in order to develop competitive gaming worldwide,” said Michal Blicharz, Director of Pro Gaming at Turtle Entertainment GmbH. “We are excited to see what kind of reception local fans will give to gaming superstars at SITEX 2012.”

No big names have been announced yet, but we’re guessing the tour will live up to the prestige of its name by bringing in only the best.
