8-Week Strife Origins Tournament Open To All

Despite entering Open Beta only two months ago, Strife is ready to have its first seeding tournament right here in Singapore. Held over eight weeks at various cycbercafes across the nation, the matches will be open to everyone and have no registration fee.

Asiasoft will be giving the tournaments the full eSports treatment in terms of live coverage. A stream will be up on PlayPark’s Twitch and YouTube channels, with professional shoutcasting by Babael from Epic Gaming TV.

Each seeding tournament will have a SG$350 prize pool, with first place winners taking the lion’s share of $200. It’ll be a single elimination, best-of-one format for 16 registered teams, with the Finals, Third Bracket and Fourth Bracket being a best-of-three. A team must consist of five players and registration ends this Friday, 31 October.

If you can’t scrounge up a team in time then there are always the remaining seven tournaments. Registration details for each will go up on the official Facebook page respectively.

  • Round 1: 1 Nov at JCube Gaming Cybercafe
  • Round 2: 8 Nov at Colosseum, Downtown East E!Hub
  • Round 3: 15 Nov at Godspeed Cybercafe
  • Round 4: 22 Nov at Aloha Cybercafe
  • Round 5: 29 Nov at Colosseum, Bugis+
  • Round 6: 6 Dec at Headshot Gamers Club, Grandlink
  • Round 7: 13 Dec at Headshot Gaming Club, Yishun
  • Round 8: 20 Dec at Aloha Cybercafe

All of them are on a Saturday and start at 12PM. For a map of each location you can refer to this page.

The ‘Origins of Strife’ is the first in a set of three tournaments lined up for players, although details for the remaining two have yet to be announced.

For those wanting friendlier competition, perhaps the fringe activities accompanying the tournaments is a better bet. These are 3v3 challenges – ‘First Tower Down’ or ‘Cindara Challenge’ – where only the mid-lane is in use, with a prohibition on jungling and neutral creep kills.

Nevertheless, Strife is geared towards letting newcomers pick up the MOBA concept so if you can find four other players then why not give the tournament a shot? With registrations being free there’s nothing to lose.

If you’ve never heard of Strife or didn’t know about the Open Beta then try this page for more information and a download link. Don’t skimp on the story!
