TGS 2018: Resident Evil 2 remake gets a brand new story trailer
While we got a gameplay demo during the E3 2018 game conference, Capcom has decided to give us a little more meat for TGS 2018 by dropping the Resident Evil 2 Story trailer.
The trailer is a treasure trove of information but let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way. Ada Wong now sports a trench coat and large turtle rim glasses. If that doesn’t scream cloak and daggers, I don’t know what will. I will miss Ada’s iconic red dress, but her new outfit does make more sense even if it screams ‘I’m a spy,’ not that Leon Kennedy would have noticed.
That aside, Resident Evil 2 ticks all the nostalgia boxes with familiar foes and familiar faces. From what was seen, it is clear that the story will follow exactly that of the original Resident Evil 2. Despite that, from what the E3 Demo has shown, Capcom isn’t afraid to capitalize on the Resident Evil 7 engine, bringing many of the innovations as well as fitting aesthetic into this remake.
Another credit to Capcom is how they aren’t afraid of making changes to better flesh out characters (Marvin Branagh) and improve upon design decisions (Police station puzzles) to give this 20-year-old classic a much-needed rework to better suit the times without compromising the spirit of the game.
The Resident Evil 2 remake will be available on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, January 25, 2019.
